GeneSight
Nearly 1 in 5 individuals suffer from mental illness and many experience a painful process of treatment by trial and error, which is one of the reasons we’ve recently partnered with GeneSight.
What is GeneSight?
GeneSight Psychotropic is a pharmacogenomic test, which means that it examines how your genes may affect medication outcomes by analyzing clinically important genetic variations in your DNA. The results can inform your doctor on how you may respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions.
The GeneSight test must be ordered by your doctor or nurse practitioner and can be performed in your healthcare provider’s office or it can be sent directly by your doctor to be taken in the convenience of your own home.
Easy 4-Step Testing Process:
1. Your doctor collects a DNA sample by painlessly swabbing the inside of your cheek OR you can collect the sample at home using the patient collection kit.
2. The sample is sent to the GeneSight lab for analysis.
3. Once the sample is received, your doctor will typically get test results in about 2 days.
4. Your doctor can contact GeneSight's Medical Affairs team for a consultation before then reviewing the results with you on your next visit.
With the information provided by the GeneSight Psychotropic test, your clinician can make more informed decisions in terms of which medications may require dose adjustments, which may be less likely to work for you, or which may have an increased risk of side effects based on your genetic makeup.
